[STUDY] Explore alternatives to using email to send billing metrics
As part of the CIO mission to have all products 'state of the art' we have been asked to explore alternatives to using email as a form of sending the billing metrics from the Cumulocity Platform to Software AG. Any solution should be capable of running offline in a customer environment with the ability to send the data in a secure way initiated by the customer.
Potential solutions (brainstormed by Atish):
Deployed metric shipper agent that pushes JSON data as event binary
Deployed shipper agent that uses direct API push to send data to CZB
Deployed shipper agent that treats data as a 'device' for ingest into CZB
Deployed shipper agent that continuously polls and sends API updates to CZB
Offline upload - user downloads the statistics file (relates to C8YBILL-16)
