Having an option for unix timestamps (i.e. 1613952862) instead of ISO8601 in the smartrest templates will reduce the data sent from 20 bytes to 10 bytes for each timestamp submitted. This saving can quickly add up for devices sending lots of measurements.
Hi Stuart,
unfortunately, this involves considerable effort. For use cases where payload reduction is critical (e.g. battery-powered devices), an alternative would be not to send the timestamp at all, which would then be created by the server so that you could save the entire 20 bytes.
Best regards,
Aaron
