Add Twilio as an SMS provider

Twilio is arguably one of the largest multimodal communication and message delivery providers in the world and many large multinational corporations use their services to send messages to their customers. Twilio should be one of the options in the "SMS provider" drop-down in the admin app of the management tenant.

Hi Mark, 10.17 is scheduled to be generally available and rolled out to all public cloud environments somewhere in Q2 this year.

@Nikolaus that is excellent news, that the most requested Idea on this site actually gets implemented. What is the ETA for 10.17?

Given the popularity of Twilio as SMS provider and thanks to the support of one of our customers, we have decided to add Twilio as a supported SMS provider to the Cumulocity IoT product. We plan to include this feature with the 10.17 version of Cumulocity IoT.

Hi John, currently we are unfortunately not planning to extend our SMS integration and are working on more prominently positioning our integration offering for triggering actions based on IoT events or alerts. However, I agree that Twilio due to its widespread use is a provider that should be on top on the list of additional providers.

Have you already started using webMethods.io? If yes, instead of using the inbuilt SMS capability of Cumulocity IoT, you can also use webMethods.io to create rules for SMS sending.
