Hi Mohammed, with Cumulocity IoT 10.7 or later, the map widget will display all devices the user has permissions to view until the configured maximum limit.
Hi Mohammed, the map widget gets very slow when rendering a high number of pins. For this reason there is still a limit. I believe that this limit is configurable. What has been changed is the behaviour you observed (customer has permissions to access 10 devices but only sees one map pins). This should not happen any more.
Hi Mohammed, I am glad to inform you that this idea has finally been implemented. Sarting with the 10.7 release which is planned to be released in October, the map widget will display all devices the user can access (inventory permissions) up to a limit of 100 devices.
I would like to give a brief update. We were having a few internal discussions with our R&D department and are currently evaluating two different solutions to address the issue of not all relevant devices being displayed within the map widget with inventory permissions enabled.
One solution is around modifying the map widget to load additional devices as long as not all devices have been queried and the map limit was not reached. The second option is around changing the way we handle permission checking on the backend.
Unfortunately, both are non-trivial system changes we need to analyse in depth. I will keep you posted!
a quick call seems to be a good idea. Any additional information you can provide me on this is appreciated as this way, I can have a chat with the R&D team in advance.
Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 17:00 CEST would work well for me.
thanks for the feedback and sorry for getting back late. I don't understand why some customers do not see a single pin as the limit is far higher. A short explanation would be highly appreciated.
The default limit is 100. However, this might be different for your instance.
Hi Nikolaus
What’s configured maximum limit?

Hi Nikolaus,
Can we set up a quick 10 min call in the dairy next week. Maybe easier to explain this on a call ?
Let me know how you wish to proceed ?
