LwM2M Device Availability (connectivity state) should be made available to APIs

Currently in the c8y platform, there can be a connectivity disconnect between c8y and a lwm2m endpoint. When this occurs the User experiences commands become queued while the availability is shown to still be green bi-directionally. Notably the queued commands indicate that there is some connectivity issue. User has no visual indication that there is something at fault and continues sending commands to endpoint until they see the packets are queued.

As a microservice, I have no visibility to the connectivity issue and also have no way of gathering that data. As a microservice I continue to send packets to targeted endpoints filling up the queue for one or more endpoints.

As discussed with c8y there is a connectivity failure anywhere in the line of comms lwm2m server to endpoint.

Itron would like a mechanism to identify connectivity issues to microservices and to users.
