LwM2M – Complete support for version 1.1

The following LwM2M 1.1 features are currently not supported by C8Y and are important to Itron:

  1. OSCORE - preferred E2E security solution by the Itron security team and a fundemental requirement for a couple of projects (water metering).

  2. Multi-instance Opaque Resources

  3. Support for other transport bindings in particular TCP

  4. The addition of the Gateway Object (Object 25) to maintain the IoT Devices connected to the LwM2M Gateway. See: https://www.openmobilealliance.org/release/LwM2M_Gateway/V1_1-20210518-A/OMA-TS-LWM2M_Gateway-V1_1-20210518-A.pdf, Section 6.

It would be great to see a commitment (i.e. a roadmap with dates) from SAG for the support of the above items.

    Hello Iain, we are planning to have a study on it to get a better estimate of the effort required for the implementation. I will get back to you as soon as we are done with the study task.

    Hello Aaron,

    Do you have any update on the addition of the Gateway Object (Object 25)? Does SAG plan to work on it in 2024 after the release of C8Y version 2024 (old 10.19)? We have a product under development that could leverage C8Y if gateway support existed.

    On answer 2: Do you have a target version? 2024 (10.19)?

    On answer 4. Are you able to share the roadmap? Do you have a target version and date?

    Hi Iain,

    1. OSCORE: we agreed to start with a study task for that to get a better feeling of what needs to be done and how much effort we would need to put into the implementation of it.

    2. Multi-instance Opaque Resources: this has already been prepared in the course of the TestFest and will be available soon.

    3. Support for other transport bindings in particular TCP: When this will be implemented depends on Leshan, which does not yet support this.

    4. Gateway Object (Object 25) support: this item is already on our roadmap
