Problem Statement:
At the moment user doesn't get any warning about their password expiry. If user didn't login for a while and password lifetime expired, then they only get to find it out at the time of login. This becomes a problem when user uses a login for any script or cronjob, as it breaks the task. Number of our customers requested about this and seems to be a basic requirement like any other application login.
If customer login gets disabled for not logging in certain period of time, then a password expiry warning has to be a pre-requisite.
Benefit:
Less customer query to assurance team
better user management
less interruption is scheduled task
Improved customer satisfaction
This is a sensible requirement that should be implemented.
Use case 1: Admins and users will be alerted about password changes and act upon the received e-mail
Use case 2: scripts/tests that have an account will send a notification to an e-mail
Note*** If an e-mail is generic and no one checks it, the problem will continue to persist
Any admin is aware of how long a password expiry is set for the accounts, in accordance with their security protocols. All users can be informed about the limitation until the permanent solution is solved.
